The Los Angeles Dodgers started strong against the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the World Series when Freddie Freeman hit a two-run home run — his fourth in four games — in the top of the first inning. But a third-inning grand slam by Anthony Volpe to left center finally got the Yankees’ bats going.
This was the first World Series played outside the state of Texas since 2018 and the first to not feature a team from Texas since 2020. Additionally, this was the eighth straight World Series to feature a team from Texas or California. The Houston Astros won AL pennants in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022; the Los Angeles Dodgers won NL pennants in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2024; and the Texas Rangers won the AL pennant in 2023.

Over the additional 15 hours it took to complete the game’s critical path, those hopes didn’t pan out. Star Wars Outlaws is a visually beautiful experience set in a compelling franchise setting, but the things you actually do in the game are so simple and same-y that they just don’t generate interest or momentum. Before too long, only the main story felt rewarding enough to bother with.
Outlaws’ rep system makes a good first impression. It’s not uncommon for player choices to steer a story in games, but it’s rarer to see that standing simulated in real-time and modify how you approach a mission. An early mission gave me the choice to steal a blaster part from the Pykes or Crimson Dawn. Since I’d just got on the Pyke’s good side, I was able to stroll right into their turf and swipe the part with almost no security. That was a cool feeling, but I question if it’ll still be cool the sixth or seventh time that scenario comes up. I also wonder if Kay’s reputation will have any long-lasting outcomes. None of the story missions I played seemed dependent on faction allegiances, and even when my standing with Crimson Dawn was “Poor,” I was still able to accept sidequests from my named Crimson Dawn bud.
I haven’t spoken much about Star Wars Outlaws’ characters or story, mostly to avoid spoilers. I will say that I really came to like Kay over time, and that the crew members she recruits for the heist are an interesting bunch. Gedeek, a nervy and idealistic droidsmith whose banter with Kay paints a fun picture of their childhood friendship, is a standout. However, Kay simply doesn’t spend enough time with these shipmates to truly sell or explore their connections, and a couple of late-game narrative turns rely on believing that certain characters are fast friends when the game hasn’t really provided enough to support that. Massive does find dimension in Kay over the critical path’s 35-40 hours. I enjoyed having a protagonist who would call the Rebellion on their bullshit when necessary, for example, when so many Star Wars stories are sharp binary, good-versus-evil tales where the Rebels are bastions of heroism.
Make choices which impact your ever-changing reputation with menacing syndicates. Decide who to align with, at least temporarily and play the syndicates against each other for your benefit – or a stack of credits.
Massive Entertainment, Ubisoft, and Lucasfilm Games pulled back the curtain today on the first-ever open world Star Wars game, Star Wars Outlaws, releasing in 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Set between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, players will step into the role of Kay Vess, a clever scoundrel in the galactic underworld. In Star Wars Outlaws, Kay is looking to attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen, all in an effort to start a new life. Game 3 world series
Sparked by – stop us if you’ve heard this one – a Freddie Freeman home run and steered by an exceptional outing from Walker Buehler, the Dodgers’ 4-2 triumph over the Yankees in Game 3 on Monday night put them on the verge of a World Series sweep.
Jazz Chisholm grounded into a fielder’s choice with Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge on first and second, respectively. Stanton singled while Judge reached via fielder’s choice after a Juan Soto walk.
The last time the Yankees were down 2-0 in the World Series was 1996. Just like this year, that team had broken a 15-year World Series drought but had fallen in the first two contests. The 2024 version is hoping history repeats itself starting tonight.
Big D M.: As a neutral, The difference between these teams isn’t the stars. They both have plenty of those. Rather, the Dodgers have real ballplayers at the bottom of the the order and the bottom of the roster. The Yankees are thin behind the big guys.
The Dodgers win 4-2, as the Yankees couldn’t get their offense going until they were down to their final out. Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer in the first inning before Los Angeles added a couple insurance runs later in the game.
