Dave Roberts told Fox’s Ken Rosenthal at the start of the fourth inning that this is the best he’s seen from Walker Buehler this season. Roberts also mentioned that Ohtani is “not feeling his best” but expressed confidence Ohtani would be OK.
8:24 p.m. HOME RUN — Freddie Freeman can’t be stopped right now. He lifts his third home run of the 2024 World Series into right field, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead on the road. It’s also Freeman’s fifth straight World Series game with a homer.

Transmedia storytelling is essentially delivering a narrative using a blend of different creative techniques. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World throws in little details of unrealistic sounds, imagery, and on-screen captions. These wouldn’t work in just any movie, including other comic adaptations. These additions are what makes Scott Pilgrim such a true comic book adaptation. Even if you’d never heard of the source material, you’d be able to feel the comic book influences.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a 2010 romantic action comedy film co-written, produced and directed by Edgar Wright, based on the graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley. It stars an ensemble cast, with Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, a slacker musician who is trying to win a competition to get a record deal, while also battling the seven evil exes of his new girlfriend Ramona Flowers, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
After artist Bryan Lee O’Malley completed the first volume of Scott Pilgrim, his publisher Oni Press contacted producer Marc Platt to propose a film adaptation. O’Malley originally had mixed feelings about a film adaptation, stating that he “expected them to turn it into a full-on action comedy with some actor that hated”, though he also “didn’t even care”, admitting: “I was a starving artist, and I was like, ‘Please, just give me some money.'” Universal Studios contracted director Edgar Wright, who had just finished the 2004-released Shaun of the Dead and agreed to adapt the Scott Pilgrim comics. Wright had first become interested in making the film when given a pre-release copy of the first graphic novel during the Shaun of the Dead press tour, later saying that “everything that found interesting about the book, and why it felt fresh and unique, was irresistible to adapt.” In May 2005, the studio signed Michael Bacall to co-write the screenplay.
A film adaptation of the comics was proposed following the release of the first volume, and Wright was attached to the project early in development. Filming began in March 2009 in Toronto and wrapped that August. The film premiered after a panel discussion at San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2010, and received a wide release in North America on August 13. It was re-released for its 10th anniversary in the United Kingdom on August 21, 2020, and the United States on April 30, 2021.
In Toronto, Scott Pilgrim, a 22-year-old bass player for unsuccessful indie garage band Sex Bob-Omb, is dating Knives Chau, a 17-year-old high-school student, much to the disapproval of his friends in the band, his roommate Wallace Wells, and his younger sister Stacey Pilgrim. Scott meets Ramona Flowers, an American Amazon delivery girl, after having first seen her in a dream. Scott loses interest in Knives but does not break up with her before pursuing Ramona. When Sex Bob-Omb plays in a battle of the bands sponsored by record executive Gideon Graves, Scott is attacked by Ramona’s ex-boyfriend Matthew Patel. Scott defeats Patel and learns that he must defeat her remaining seven evil exes in order to date Ramona.

Over in New York, there is a lot to be looked at this offseason. While they were completely outclassed and outgunned in the first three games, they made a powerful statement in Game 4, showing just what they are capable of. And tonight they were well on their way proving that they are still the all-time powerhouse in Major League Baseball.
Will Smith then reached first to load the bases after Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe unsuccessfully tried to force out Hernández at third base. Volpe’s throw bounced short of third baseman Jazz Chisholm, allowing the speedy Hernández to slide in safely.
All five runs that inning were unearned, leaving Cole with a very unusual pitching line: 6 ⅔ IP, 4 H, 5 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K on a season-high 108 pitches. Cole took a no-hitter into the fifth inning! He pitched very well in every inning except the fifth, but that one counts, so five (unearned) runs are on his ledger. Mostly though, blame the defense. The Yankees constantly make life hard on themselves. In Game 5, that meant giving the Dodgers a six-out inning.
11:15 p.m. — LOS ANGELES TAKES THE LEAD! Betts has his moment and sac flies to Judge, scoring Edman. Smith advances to third with two outs before Freeman strikes out swinging to end the inning with six outs left for New York to stay alive.
Officially, Buehler got the save. The Game 3 starter came out of the bullpen in Game 5 to slam the door on the Yankees. Blake Treinen got the game’s most important outs though. He got seven outs spanning the sixth to eighth innings, his longest outing since 2016. Treinen struck out Anthony Rizzo to end the eighth inning with two runners on base.
On my social media feeds, all I’m seeing is my L.A. friends proclaiming their loyalty to the Dodgers. A bunch of them uploaded videos from Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, which the Blue Crew won against the New York Mets to secure a spot in the World Series.
